If dark fiction is your thing, then you are in for a dubious treat - my debut novel Ghosted is now out! Published by Indie micropress Stratosphere Books, Ghosted is about what really happens in prison...
Teaching alongside Dean, a prisoner in for more than drugs and less than murder, Kate Dulson thinks she’s got it all under control. Exams, creative writing classes, even an unseen reading group in the segregation unit. But when she gets the news that her father has been found dead, everything starts to unravel.
A wing burns down. There’s another riot. Hostage taking. Blood on floors and shit on walls. Prisoners disappear in the half light. Everyone has lost something, someone. Stuck on pause. Ghosted from everyone, including themselves.
The only constant is Dean. A man covered in glitter paint who sees the glimpses of darkness too. Greif spun, Kate begins to understand what Dean means when he says he sees the glimpses of darkness too. But will their unspoken friendship be enough to get them both through what is to come?
Do you want to find your own voice? Whether you want to be a published writer or use words (marks, collage, zines, journals etc) to support you - I have the course for you!
I've written from dark places and in dark spaces. My dark fiction novels originate in prisons, graveyards, abandoned hospitals, the hidden corners of my head and heart.
Sometimes those words find their way into novels. Sometimes they stay hidden. But wherever they wander, they always act as therapy.
If you'd like to work with your own dark words, to find your voice when it feels like you are lost, then contact me. I'm a qualified creative writing as therapeutic practice facilitator. Bit wordy. What it actually means is that I'm passionate about supporting other people to find the words, the stories that haven't been heard yet. The ones we need to hear or keep close.
I support people with a story to find and tell. I support people to overcome writers' block. We'd use whatever form of writing works for you: journaling, spoken word, mixed media, colours, images, tattoos, short narrative or a full-blown novel. The words might help with those glimpses of darkness or celebrate the shimmers of light.
Online writing groups last 90 minutes. Individual sessions last an hour. There is no pressure to read out your words. Just know you are heard and held in storied spaces.
